Week 2 Summary

Posted: September 5, 2012 in Art 170 Thoughts & Reviews

During this weeks reading in chapter 2 of “The Principles of Beautiful Web Design” I have learned that if you want to make an appealing website and you choose the wrong color…you have made a big mistake! Though choosing the wrong color may not be a big deal to some, it is a very big deal as you pursue your career as a web designer. I have also discovered that color has a psychology of its own and simple enough it is called the Color psychology, it is a field of study that is devoted to analyzing the emotional and behavioral effects produced by colors and color combination. Colors of a website are used based on the subject at hand. Temperature also pertains to color. The warm colors are from red to yellow, which includes pink, orange, brown and burgundy. They are in association with warmth and  the sun.  Cool colors range from blue to green, which could also include shades of violet. Cooler colors are more calming nd can reduce tension. This weeks lesson also discusses URLs, and adding links and images to a HTML page. According to https://angel.aacc.edu/section/default.asp?id=ART1708752012FA URL is an abbreviation for Uniform Resource Locator. An URL refers to a file or a resource on some machine on the network. To reference the location of various files, URLs are used in a link and image tag. If you were to create a link a page that is not your own you would have to create an absolute link. An absolute link is similar to a mailing address because it gives very specific directions and instruction. When creating a link to an image it is very important to know where the file sits.

You did a nice job summarizing this weeks material. You gave a detailed overview of how colors are important in web design. I also like how you used a picture to tie in a visual element that related to your post.
